1-1                         SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1104
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 1-3     recognize Juan Manuel "J. M." Farias for his 30 years of
 1-4     dedicated service to the young people of Texas; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, As an educator, coach, principal, and mentor,
 1-6     Mr. Farias has devoted most of his life to ensuring that his
 1-7     students are prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, His broad experience and versatility have been
 1-9     invaluable to his latest position as high school principal of the
1-10     C. C. Winn Campus in Eagle Pass; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Through his achievements and abilities, he has
1-12     helped organize the Southwest Texas State University Eagle Pass
1-13     Student Endowment Program; and
1-14           WHEREAS, His pursuit of excellence and his development of
1-15     his players' natural abilities have yielded his baseball teams
1-16     six district championships, four bi-district championships, and
1-17     three area championships; in 1988 he took his team to the state
1-18     semi-finals; during his 17 years of coaching he has had 40 players
1-19     attend college on scholarships; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Mr. Farias has also given generously of his time to
1-21     various civic organizations:  he served as President of the Optimist
1-22     Club and the Babe Ruth League; board member of the Maverick County
1-23     Livestock Show Association, Maverick County Hospital, and Model
 2-1     Cities; and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Feast of
 2-2     Sharing; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, Over his many years of dedicated service, the
 2-4     faculty, staff, and young people of Eagle Pass have benefitted
 2-5     greatly from his wisdom and experience; now, therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-7     76th Legislature, hereby commend Juan Manuel "J. M." Farias for
 2-8     his 30 years of service and extend best wishes for the future; and,
 2-9     be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
2-11     as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
