1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1157 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 David I. Pasternack 1-6 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the 1-7 citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of David I. Pasternack, 1-8 who died April 22, 1999, at the age of 67; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Born March 25, 1932, David Pasternack served in 1-10 the United States Army as a reconnaissance pilot in the Korean War; 1-11 he was an outstanding Texas citizen whose successful work included 1-12 serving as an advisor to presidents and serving on a special task 1-13 force on foreign investments for Governor Bill Clements; he was 1-14 honored for his work in shareholders' rights; and 1-15 WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman, 1-16 Mr. Pasternack was respected for his leadership in the community 1-17 and for his many accomplishments; and 1-18 WHEREAS, He was a member of MENSA and was active in 1-19 numerous charitable causes and civic organizations; he was a 1-20 trustee of the National Jewish Hospital in Denver and a supporter 1-21 of End Hunger Network, the AIDS Foundation of Houston, and Seven 1-22 Acres Geriatric Center; and 2-1 WHEREAS, He was a supporter of homeless and underprivileged 2-2 children and of PDAPT--Drug and Alcohol Halfway House; he was a 2-3 major donor to the Houston Grand Opera; and 2-4 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, compassion, and 2-5 generosity, he gave unselfishly of his time to others, and 2-6 his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten 2-7 by those who knew him; and 2-8 WHEREAS, David Pasternack touched the lives of innumerable 2-9 citizens and was devoted to his wife, Carole Pasternack, and he 2-10 leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his 2-11 family and many friends; now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-13 76th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-14 bereaved family of David I.
