1-1                         SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1168
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to join
 1-3     the family and friends of Lillye Emma Easter Dickey in honoring
 1-4     this beloved matriarch on the grand occasion of her 100th birthday;
 1-5     and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Born June 6, 1899, in Blum, Texas, Lillye graduated
 1-7     as salutatorian from Dimmitt High School in 1913, and upon
 1-8     graduation attended the College of Industrial Arts in Denton; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Lillye married Roy W. Dickey, Sr., in August of 1919,
1-10     and the marriage was blessed with two children, Roy and Patricia,
1-11     two grandsons, and three great-grandchildren; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Moving to Wichita Falls in 1938, Mrs. Dickey earned
1-13     the respect and friendship of all those who have had the privilege
1-14     of knowing her through the years; and
1-15           WHEREAS, A highly respected member of her community for over
1-16     60 years, this devout Christian lives her faith daily in her contact
1-17     with others; Lillye Dickey is a lifelong member of the First
1-18     United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls; and
1-19           WHEREAS, This being her 100th birthday, Lillye has been
1-20     privileged to witness events most of us only read about in history
1-21     books; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, Truly deserving of the long and happy life with
 2-2     which she has been blessed, this centenarian is certainly worthy
 2-3     of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
 2-4           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-5     76th Legislature, hereby extend happy birthday greetings to
 2-6     Lillye Emma Easter Dickey and declare her a treasured citizen
 2-7     of her state; and, be it further
 2-8           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 2-9     Mrs. Dickey as an expression of gratitude and highest regard from
2-10     the Texas Senate.
