1-1                         SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1171
 1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 1-3     family and friends of Candice Charl Washington of Dallas in
 1-4     commending her on receiving the prestigious Gold Award, the
 1-5     highest award in Girl Scouting; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Candice has worked diligently for this award
 1-7     during her many years in Girl Scouts and is truly deserving of
 1-8     the honor bestowed on her by the Tejas Girl Scout Council; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, This distinguished award is coveted by
1-10     Girl Scouts throughout the United States and has a special
1-11     significance in our state; and
1-12           WHEREAS, To earn the Gold Award, Candice has exhibited
1-13     diligence and leadership in her community service and educational
1-14     projects; and
1-15           WHEREAS, It is heartening to know that young people are
1-16     willing to devote their time and energy in pursuit of excellence
1-17     and service to their communities; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Candice's outstanding accomplishment indicates
1-19     that she has met superbly the challenges set for her and will make
1-20     important contributions to her community in the years ahead; now,
1-21     therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 2-2     76th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to
 2-3     Candice Charl Washington on her noteworthy achievement; and,
 2-4     be it further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 2-6     Miss Washington as an expression of admiration from the
 2-7     Texas Senate with best wishes for continued success.
