1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1179 1-3 WHEREAS, Colleen Wooten Jenkins is retiring from Reliant 1-4 Energy after 15 years of dedicated service, and she is indeed 1-5 deserving of special recognition at this time; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, Mrs. Jenkins attended 1-7 Northwestern Nazarene College in Napa, Idaho; in 1984 she began 1-8 working for Houston Lighting and Power, now Reliant Energy, and 1-9 during her 15-year tenure she has watched the company grow into 1-10 a successful international corporation; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Employed in Austin, Mrs. Jenkins is known for 1-12 the valuable assistance that she provides for younger employees, 1-13 and many of her colleagues refer to her as the "heart and soul" 1-14 of the Austin office; she has had the privilege of watching the 1-15 progression of various employees of Reliant Energy, one of whom 1-16 has expanded his career by serving the Lone Star State as a state 1-17 representative; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Mrs. Jenkins is a devoted wife to her husband, 1-19 Lewis Jenkins, and this happy couple has had the opportunity to 1-20 combine their two families to make one large and loving family 1-21 that includes their six children, Michael Selby, Letha Villegas, 1-22 Lydia Selby, Lewis D. Jenkins, Kathryn Grider, and Deborah Hartmann, 2-1 and 20 grandchildren; and 2-2 WHEREAS, In addition to her many accomplishments at 2-3 work and home, this esteemed woman is a pianist for her church, 2-4 and in April, 1999, she received the District Service Award with 2-5 a Servant's Heart Trophy, the highest honor bestowed upon a 2-6 layperson; during her free time Mrs. Jenkins enjoys cultivating 2-7 her beautiful roses and spending time with her family; and 2-8 WHEREAS, Mrs. Jenkins's exceptional career has earned her the 2-9 respect and admiration of her friends, family, and colleagues, and 2-10 it is truly a pleasure to honor her for her many years of dedicated 2-11 service to Reliant Energy; now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-13 76th Legislature, hereby commend Colleen Wooten Jenkins for her 2-14 achievements and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued 2-15 success and happiness in her retirement; and, be it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be 2-17 prepared for Mrs. Jenkins as an expression of high regard by the 2-18 Texas Senate. 2-19 Armbrister 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 President of the Senate 2-22 I hereby certify that the above 2-23 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-24 on May 29, 1999. 2-25 ______________________________________ 2-26 Secretary of the Senate 2-27 ______________________________________ 2-28 Member, Texas Senate
