Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session
March 18, 1999
TO: Honorable Tom Ramsay, Chair, House Committee on County
Affairs
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: HB 117 by Keel (Relating to the forfeiture of
commutation of time for good conduct by an inmate of a
county jail who files a frivolous or malicious
lawsuit.), As Introduced

* No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *

Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated. If the number of frivolous lawsuits filed is reduced as a
result of the bill's passage, a county could experience reduced legal
costs. However, the forfeiture of commutations could result in an
increase in jail costs to a county.
