Fiscal Analysis

The bill would exempt certain peace officers from the provisions of the
Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies Act.

Methodology

* Approximately 1,000 peace officers would be exempted from the
provisions of the Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies
Act.

* The officers exempted would no longer pay the $25 registration fee and
the $225 licensing fee.

* Information from the Texas Board of Private Investigators and Private
Security Agencies was used to estimate the number of officers which
would be exempted by the bill and the fee rates which apply to these
officers.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
