LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session
March 31, 1999
TO: Honorable Rodney Ellis, Chair, Senate Committee on
Jurisprudence
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: HB870 by Goodman (Relating to county fees for handling
certain registry funds.), As Engrossed
**************************************************************************
* No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *

Local Government Impact
The bill would have no fiscal impact on counties which invest all
registry funds in interest-bearing accounts. Counties which keep some
portion of their registry funds in non-interest-bearing accounts could
experience a loss of fee revenues. The loss would depend on the amount
of registry funds a county maintains in non-interest-bearing accounts
which were generated from cases arising under the Family Code. In most
cases, the loss is not anticipated to be significant.
