LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session
March 19, 1999
TO: Honorable Steven Wolens, Chair, House Committee on State
Affairs
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: HB890 by Hamric (relating to the regulation of fireworks
by certain counties; providing a criminal penalty), As
Introduced

* No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *

Local Government Impact
There are no significant costs to counties expected.
A county prohibiting fireworks could save costs associated with
inspecting fireworks stands. The savings would depend on the number of
fireworks stands currently being inspected by the county.
Since the bill provides that a violation of a fireworks prohibition would
be a Class C misdemeanor, a county could levy fines against violators,
potentially resulting in the recovery of some costs associated with
fireworks-related incidents.
