                    FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session

                              March 20, 1999

TO: Honorable Tom Ramsay, Chair, House Committee on County
               Affairs

FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board

The bill would create a new Electronic Recording Advisory Committe.
Members of the committee would be entitled to compensation and
reimbursement of expenses as determined by the state agency of which the
member is an officer or employee. Chapter 2110, Government Code, would
not apply to the committee.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated. While counties that choose to accept electronic filing of
records may incur some costs associated with computer hardware and
software needed to permit filing and recording by electronic means, it
is anticipated that most counties that choose to accept electronic
filing of records will already have the technological capacity in place.
