LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session April 26, 1999 TO: Honorable J.E. "Buster" Brown, Chair, Senate Committee on Natural Resources FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB 2332 by Lewis, Ron (Relating to the administration and consolidation of drainage districts.), As Engrossed ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. The bill would require an election for consolidation of districts. If a consolidation election is held in conjunction with another scheduled election, the additional item should not result in a significant cost to the districts. If an election is required solely for the purpose of deciding on consolidation, then the cost would depend on the population of the district. Based on a recent survey of local governments, the median election cost has been calculated at $.52 per resident. Source Agencies: LBB Staff: JK, DE
