Methodology The Texas Department of Transportation estimated that approximately 38 percent of the 23,946 disabled veteran license plates issued were from two-car families. Provisions of the bill would allow disabled veterans that have a second car and apply for a second "Disabled Vet" plate to pay $15 instead of $60. Currently the state and counties collect an average of $60 ($40-state, $20-county) per vehicle registration. Local Government Impact The department estimates that provisions of the bill could have revenue implications to counties. Source Agencies: 601 Department of Transportation LBB Staff: JK, PE, ML
