Fiscal Analysis

The bill would require the state to compensate the Carson County Attorney
in the same manner that the state compensates district attorneys.
Carson County would be required to pay $28,500 of that amount. The bill
would remove one county from the four county area represented by the
100th District Attorney.

Methodology

The annual cost of the salary and benefits of a district attorney (who
may practice) to the state is $111,262. Carson County would pay $28,500
of this amount while the state would pay the remaining $82,762. The
state would save $1,750 in a travel expense allotment given to the 100th
District Attorney.

Information from the Comptroller of Public Accounts was used to determine
the salary and benefit levels of district attorneys (who may practice)
and the amount of the state travel expense allotment.
