FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session
May 13, 1999
TO: Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on
State Affairs
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: HB3178 by Lewis, Glenn (Relating to coverage for certain
health benefits under the Texas State College and
University Employees Uniform Insurance Benefits Act.),
As Engrossed

* No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *

This bill would provide for changes in the Texas State College and
University Employees Uniform Insurance Benefits Act, including limiting
those persons who would be eligible to participate as retirees (based on
last three years of employment at an institution), and omitting language
pertaining to Texas Tech and The University of Houston System. These
changes would result in a slight savings to general revenue for the
state contribution for these retirees, but the savings would not be
significant. Other changes provided by this bill have no fiscal impact.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
