LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session May 5, 1999 TO: Honorable Sherri Greenberg, Chair, House Committee on Pensions & Investments FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: HB3178 by Lewis, Glenn (Relating to coverage for certain health benefits under the Texas State College and University Employees Uniform Insurance Benefits Act), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** This bill would provide for changes in the Texas State College and University Employees Uniform Insurance Benefits Act, including limiting those persons who would be eligible to participate as retirees (based on last three years of employment at an institution), and omitting language pertaining to Texas Tech and The University of Houston System. These changes would result in a slight savings to general revenue for the state contribution for these retirees, but the savings would not be significant. Other changes provided by this bill have no fiscal impact. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
