The bill would require the administration of Spanish TAAS tests to
Spanish-speaking students of limited English proficiency in grades 3-6.
The commissioner of education would be required to develop an English
reading proficiency test for students of limited English proficiency.
The Texas Education Agency is currently developing the tests called for
in the bill, thus the bill would not create additional costs.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
