The TNRCC estimates that 30 landfills state-wide may contain 500 or more barrels of industrial hazardous waste and estimates that exhuming these barrels could cost between $50,000 to $10,000,000. A unit of local government owning or operating an affected landfill could experience a significant fiscal impact .
