February 12, 1999
TO: Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health
Services
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: SB122 by Nelson (Relating to automated external
defibrillator devices.), As Introduced
**************************************************************************
* No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. *
* *
* The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal *
* basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of *
* the bill. *
* *
* The bill would require the Department of Health to adopt rules to *
* establish minimum requirements for training for persons acquiring *
* an automated external defibrillator. It is assumed that the *
* department can accomplish this within existing resources. *
**************************************************************************
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated, although persons acquiring an automated external
defibrillator would be required to notify the local emergency medical
services provider of the existence, location, and type of automated
external defibrillator.
