LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session March 24, 1999 TO: Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Higher Education FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB149 by Harris (relating to student intercollegiate athletic fees at The University of Texas at Arlington), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted ************************************************************************** * No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * ************************************************************************** The bill would allow the governing board of the University of Texas-Arlington to impose a mandatory intercollegiate athletics fee at a maximum $7.75 per semester credit hour for each regular semester. Imposition of the intercollegiate athletics fee would affect the local funds generated at the University of Texas-Arlington. The estimated increase in revenue is $3,216,250 in fiscal year 2000 and $3,231,750 in fiscal year 2001. Thereafter, a 0.25 percent increase is estimated for each subsequent year.
