Fiscal Analysis

The bill would raise the speed limit for a passenger car or light truck
towing a trailer, semitrailer, or towable recreational vehicle that is
less than 20 feet in length.

Methodology

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDot) estimated a one time cost
to the department to remove, refabricate, and reinstall signs related to
the new speed limits. While the bill states that TxDot may not replace
the signs until replacement would have occurred in the course of regular
maintenance by the department, TxDot stated they would have to replace
the signs due to law enforcement requirements for speed limits.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
