Fiscal Analysis The bill would establish a sex offender compliance unit in the Department of Public Safety to investigate and arrest individuals determined to have committed a sexually violent offense. The bill would authorize use of the Fugitive Apprehension Account to implement the unit. The bill would take effect only if a specific appropriation for the implementation of the bill is provided in H.B. No. 1 (General Appropriations Act), Acts of the 76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999. Methodology The unit would consist of nine commissioned peace officers and 3 adminstrative support staff to be stationed across the state.
