LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session March 23, 1999 TO: Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health Services FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB602 by Moncrief (Relating to the membership of the Texas Board of Health and the membership and powers of the Interagency Council for Genetic Services.), As Introduced ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * * * * The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal * * basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of * * the bill. * ************************************************************************** The bill would require the composition of the Texas Board of Health to include one nonvoting member appointed by the Interagency Council for Genetics Services from the council members. According to the Department of Health, the Board of Health would be required to pay travel expenses for the new board member to attend monthly board meetings and additional meetings such as hearings. It is assumed that the additional travel expenses would be absorbed by the department using its existing resources.
