LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session March 3, 1999 TO: Honorable Teel Bivins, Chair, Senate Committee on Education FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB636 by Bivins (Relating to concurrent enrollment agreements between junior colleges and private high schools), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * * * * The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal * * basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of * * the bill. * ************************************************************************** This bill would allow students at accredited, private high schools to concurrently enroll at public, community colleges on the same basis as students at public high schools. This would generate contact hour funding for the community colleges, but the number of students expected to participate is less than 100 which equates to only 20 full time student equivalents. The amount of additional general revenue ($48,000) generated by these contact hours does not represent a significant impact to the state. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Source Agencies: LBB Staff: JK, CT, DB
