The bill would allow the governing board of the University of
Texas-Arlington to impose a mandatory intercollegiate athletics fee at a
maximum $7.75 per semester credit hour for each regular semester.
Imposition of the fee would be contingent upon approval by the governing
body of the City of Arlington.

Imposition of the intercollegiate athletics fee would affect the local
funds generated at the University of Texas-Arlington. The estimated
increase in revenue is $3,216,250 in fiscal year 2000 and $3,231,750 in
fiscal year 2001. Thereafter, a 0.25 percent increase is estimated for
each subsequent year.
  
Local Government Impact
  
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
