Fiscal Analysis The bill would authorize the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to contract with the University of Texas at Austin to establish, operate and maintain a Multicultural Mathematics and Science Education Cooperative. It is estimated that the initiative would cost approximately $2,381,005 in general revenue funds over the next five years. Methodology The program is an established federal program and is currently housed at The University of Texas at Austin. Passage of the bill would allow expansion of this program. Cost estimates are based on the operating cost of the current federal program. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
