LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session April 21, 1999 TO: Honorable Paul Sadler, Chair, House Committee on Public Education FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB1026 by Brown, J. E. "Buster" (Relating to cooperative programs between certain educational institutions under which students may work at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center.), As Engrossed ************************************************************************** * No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. * * * * The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal * * basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of * * the bill. * ************************************************************************** Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. The bill has no direct administrative costs to school districts since all actions are voluntary and optional. Although it is not known how many districts would choose to participate in the cooperative program, those that do so would likely incur minimal costs. There may be some slight reduction in funding of student attendance in the Foundation School Program since students would not be attending school. The reference to Section 25.085 of the Texas Education Code simply allows students to avoid being truant while employed at the Johnson Space Center.
