Local Government Impact

Fiscal Analysis

The bill would allow the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to
repair or refurbish certain surplus or salvage processing equipment for
sale (at a price sufficient to defray costs) to a school district, state
agency or political subdivision of the state, if economically feasible to
do so; or sell or retain the components, as appropriate to realize the
maximum benefit to the state.

Fiscal Impact

The bill could result in savings to units of local government. The
savings would depend on the number of items a local entity would
purchase and the difference between the price TDCJ would charge per
refurbished good and the price the local entity would have otherwise
paid for the equipment.
