Methodology The department currently processes surety bonds filed by carriers. Provisions of the bill would require the department to issue permits to the carriers at a cost of $20. TxDot estimated that it processed surety bonds for approximately 5,243 trucks in FY 1998 that would now be required to purchase a permit.
