LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 76th Regular Session
April 23, 1999
TO: Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Higher
Education
FROM: John Keel, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE: SB1859 by Sibley (Relating to the creation of the Texas
Woman's University System and declaring the Texas Woman's
University Institute of Health Sciences a health related
institution), As Introduced
**************************************************************************
* No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated under the current *
* funding method for the institution. *
**************************************************************************
The bill establishes Texas Woman's University System and establishes the
Texas Woman's Institute of Health Sciences as a health related
institution.
If the Legislature adopts funding formulas for health related
institutions, the newly created Institute of Health Sciences would be
eligible to receive funding under those formulas. To the extent these
formulas would generate additional funding than is currently received by
Texas Woman's University, there would be a cost to the state.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
