The House Committee on Agriculture & Livestock 76th Legislature September 5, 2000 10:00 a.m. Luling City Hall, Luling, Texas Pursuant to a notice posted on August 25, 2000, the House Committee on Agriculture & Livestock met in a public hearing and was called to order by the acting chair, Representative McReynolds at 10:00 a.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives McReynolds; Green; Jones, Charles (3). Absent: Representatives Swinford; Brown, Betty; Christian; Crownover, Myra; Hardcastle; Hupp (6). A quorum was present. The Chair made opening comments. (Representative Green in chair.) The Chair recognized the following witnesses to testify regarding the interim charge discussing programs in other states designed to preserve farmland, especially in proximity to metropolitan areas: Martin Hubert, Texas Dept. of Agriculture Jim Butler, Texas A&M System, Agriculture Program Robert Potts, The Nature Conservancy Julie Shackelford, American Farmland Trust (Representative Swinford now present.)
