         Pursuant to a notice posted on October 11, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Agriculture & Livestock, Subcommittee on Forestry,  
         met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Christian, at 4:00 p.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives Christian; McReynolds (2). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Hardcastle (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Chairman Christian made opening comments and recognized the  
         following people for testimony regarding forestry in Texas: 
          
         David Alders, landowner 
         Ed Barron, Texas Forest Service 
         Scott Beasley, Stephen F. Austin State University 
         W.I. Davis, landowner 
         James Hull, Director, Texas Forest Service 
         James Kroll, Stephen F. Austin State University 
          
         At 7:00 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
