House Committee on Corrections 
         76th Legislature

         Upon lunch recess 
         House Chamber 
          
         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 18,  
         1999, the House Committee on Corrections met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Pat Haggerty at 12:20 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Haggerty; Staples; Allen; Gray;  
                   Longoria (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Culberson; Ellis, Dan; Farrar;  
                   Lengefeld (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 29 
          
         The chair laid out SB 29 as pending business.   
          
         The chair recognized Representative Staples to explain the  
         measure.   
          
         Representative Staples offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         Representative Haggerty moved that SB 29, as amended, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Haggerty; Staples; Allen; Gray;  
                        Longoria (5). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Culberson; Ellis, Dan; Farrar;  
                        Lengefeld (4). 
          
         At 12:30 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
