         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 11, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Corrections met in a public hearing and was called  
         to order by the chair, Representative Haggerty, at 2:08 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Haggerty; Staples; Allen; Ellis, Dan;  
                   Farrar; Gray; Lengefeld; Longoria (8). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Culberson (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken on the overall picture of the Criminal  
         Justice System in Texas.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 3:58 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
