         Pursuant to a notice posted on June 14, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Corrections met in a joint public hearing with the  
         House Appropriations Subcommittee on Criminal Justice and was  
         called to order by the chair, Representative Haggerty, at 9:05  
         a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Haggerty; Staples; Allen; Ellis, Dan;  
                   Farrar; Lengefeld (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Culberson; Gray; Longoria (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken on the 2001-2005 inmate population  
         projections for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  (See  
         attached witness list.) 
          
         At 11:20 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
