         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 12, 1999, the House  
         Committee on Economic Development met in a public hearing and  
         was called to order by the Chair, Representative Jim Solis at  
         8:57 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Solis, Jim; Deshotel; Homer; Luna,  
                   Vilma; McClendon; Seaman (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Van de Putte; Keffer; Yarbrough (3). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         The chair laid out SB 538.   
          
         The chair explained the measure.

         Representative Deshotel moved that SB 538 be reported  
         favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do  
         pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following  
         vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Solis, Jim; Van de Putte;  
                        Deshotel; Homer; Keffer; Luna, Vilma;  
                        McClendon; Seaman (8). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representative Yarbrough (1). 
          
         At 9:40 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
