         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 28, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Economic Development, Subcommittee on Unemployment  
         Insurance, met in a public hearing and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Yarbrough, at 9:40 a.m.

                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Villarreal, Mike (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The chair laid out charge #1 - Unemployment Insurance: 
              Actively Monitor the status of the unemployment insurance  
         compensation trust fund. 
              Study the mechanisms in current law designed to keep the  
         fund in the desired range.
