         Pursuant to a notice posted on May 25, 2000, the House Committee  
         on Economic Development, Subcommittee on Smart Jobs, met in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the chair,  
         Representative Luna, at 10:05 a.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives Luna; McClendon; Villarreal; Yarbrough  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Keffer (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The chair delivered opening remarks and announced that the  
         purpose of the meeting was to consider invited testimony on the  
         Texas Department of Economic Development Smart Jobs Program. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 12:35 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 12:45 p.m., June 12, 2000. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 12:51 p.m. and was called to order  
         by the chair, Representative Luna. The roll was answered as  
         follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Luna; McClendon; Villarreal; Yarbrough  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Keffer (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 1:40 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
