         Pursuant to a notice posted on July 31, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Economic Development, Subcommittee on Unemployment  
         Insurance, met in a public hearing and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Yarbrough, at 10:04 a.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives Yarbrough; Deshotel; Homer (3). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Seaman; Villarreal (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The chair made opening remarks and laid out Charge #1 -  
         Unemployment Insurance: 
              Actively monitor the status of the unemployment insurance  
              compensation trust fund and study the mechanisms in current  
              law designed to keep the fund in the desired range. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 11:45 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 12:30 p.m., August 30, 2000. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 12:50 p.m. and was called to order  
         by Representative Yarbrough. The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Yarbrough; Deshotel; Homer; (3). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Seaman; Villarreal (2). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 1:40 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
