         Pursuant to a notice posted on September 13, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Economic Development met in a public hearing and  
         was called to order by the chair, Representative Solis, Jim, at  
         10:10 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Solis, Jim; Deshotel; Homer; Luna;  
                   Seaman (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Keffer; McClendon; Villarreal;  
                   Yarbrough (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The chair made his opening remarks and announced that the  
         purpose of the meeting was to hear testimony regarding economic  
         development in Texas and charge # 1 concerning local workforce  
         development boards.

         At 11:50 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 1:30 p.m., September 26, 2000. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 1:50 p.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Solis, Jim. The roll was answered as  
         follows:

                   Seaman (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Keffer; McClendon; Villarreal;  
                   Yarbrough (4). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 4:25 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
