The House Committee on Human Services 76th Legislature May 3, 2000 10:00 a.m. Capitol Extension Pursuant to a notice posted on March 24, 2000, the House Committee on Human Services met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Naishtat, at 10:21 a.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Naishtat; Maxey; Chavez; Noriega; Truitt (5). Absent: Representatives Christian; Davis, John; Telford; Wohlgemuth (4). A quorum was present. The chair laid out the issues to be addressed. Public testimony regarding Charge Two: Study issues surrounding the financial difficulties experienced by some nursing home companies, including the reasons for bankruptcies and closures, state policies and resources for dealing with them, and impacts on residents. Testimony was taken. (See attached witness list.) At 12:20 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was recessed until 1:00 p.m., May 3, 2000.
