House Committee on Insurance

         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 18, 1999, the House  
         Committee on Insurance met in a public hearing and was called  
         to order by the Chair, Representative John Smithee at 2:09 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Smithee; Burnam; Lewis, Glenn;  
                   Moreno, Joe; Olivo; Seaman; Wise (7). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Eiland; Thompson (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The Chairman explained that the purpose of this meeting was  
         organizational and that testimony would be taken from  
         representatives of the Texas Department of Insurance, the  
         Office of Public Insurance Counsel and the Texas Insurance  
         Purchasing Alliance. 
          
         (Representatives Eiland and Thompson now present.)   
          
         Testimony was taken. 
          
         At 3:00 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
