         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 6, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Goodman, at 10:00 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:

         A quorum was present. 
          
         The committee convened to hear invited testimony on interim  
         charge number 2 and 5: 
          
         Review current laws relating to parental abduction.  Conduct  
         active oversight of the agencies under the committee's  
         jurisdiction, including the child support enforcement program  
         and recent law changes affecting the Texas Department of  
         Protective and Regulatory Services.
