         Pursuant to a notice posted on September 8, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Abandoned Water  
         Wells, met in a public hearing and was called to order by the  
         co-chairmen, Representative King, Tracy, and Representative  
         Puente, Robert, at 9:35 a.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives King, Tracy; Counts; Puente; Walker  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Corte (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Abandoned Water Wells 
          
         The subcommittee considered testimony related to the condition  
         of abandoned or deteriorated water wells and the need for state  
         and local involvement to address potential problems. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 11:15 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
