         On May 11, 1999, pursuant to an announcement on the House  
         floor, the House Committee on Public Health met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Patricia Gray at 9:34 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Gray; Capelo; Delisi; Glaze; Maxey  
                   (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Coleman; Hilderbran; McClendon;  
                   Uresti (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 1207 
          
         The chair laid out SB 1207, the Senate companion to HB 3217 by  
         McCall. 
          
         (Representative Coleman now present.)   
          
         Representative Maxey offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         Representative Maxey moved that SB 1207, as amended, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Gray; Coleman; Capelo; Delisi;  
                        Glaze; Maxey (6). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Hilderbran; McClendon; Uresti  
                        (3).

         SB 964 
          
         The chair moved to reconsider the vote by which the measure  
         was reported from committee.  The motion to reconsider  
         prevailed without objection.  
  
         Rep. Maxey moved to withdraw the five amendments that were  
         adopted on SB 964 at the public hearing  on May 5, 1999.  The  
         motion to withdraw the amendments prevailed without objection.  
          
         Representative Gray offered a complete committee substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
          Representative Maxey moved that SB 964, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on  
         Local and Consent Calendars.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Gray; Coleman; Capelo; Delisi;  
                        Glaze; Maxey (6). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0).
