The House Committee on Public Health 76th Legislature February 29, 2000 10:00 a.m. or upon adjournment Capitol Extension Pursuant to a notice posted on February 15, 2000, the House Committee on Public Health met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Gray, at 10:00 a.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Gray; Coleman; Glaze; Maxey; McClendon; Uresti (6). Absent: Representatives Capelo; Delisi; Hilderbran (3). A quorum was present. The chair made opening remarks and announced that the purpose of the meting was to address the role and potential of disease management in Texas' public health programs that serve chronically ill populations, as charged by Speaker Laney. The chair thanked Reps. McClendon and Uresti for their leadership on this charge, and announced that Rep. McClendon would chair the remainder of the meeting. (Representative McClendon in chair.) The chair called upon witnesses who were invited to give the committee an overview of disease management. Chernov MD, Regional Medical Director, Aetna US HealthCare Sheila Beckett, Executive Director, Employee Retirement System The chair called upon the witness who was invited to brief the committee regarding possibilities within Texas' Medicaid population.
