Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 3,
1999, the House Committee on Public Safety met in a formal
meeting and was called to order by the Chair, Representative
Bob Turner at 3:41 pm.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Turner, Bob; Keel; Berman; Carter;
Driver; Gutierrez; Najera (7).
Absent: Representatives Hupp; King, Phil (2).
A quorum was present.
SB 565
The chair laid out SB 565.
(Representative Hupp now present.)
Representative Carter moved that SB 565 be reported favorably
to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and
be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent
Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Representatives Turner, Bob; Keel; Berman;
Carter; Driver; Gutierrez; Hupp; Najera (8).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representative King, Phil (1).
SB 370
The chair laid out SB 370.
Representative Carter moved to reconsider the vote by which
the measure was reported from committee. The motion to
reconsider prevailed without objection.
The vote to adopt the amendment(s) was reconsidered.
The amendment(s) were withdrawn.
Representative Turner, Bob offered a complete committee
substitute.
The committee substitute was adopted without objection.
Representative Turner, Bob moved that SB 370, as substituted,
be reported favorably to the full house with the
recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion
prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Representatives Turner, Bob; Keel; Berman;
Carter; Driver; Gutierrez; Hupp; Najera (8).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representative King, Phil (1).
At 3:49 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
