The House Committee on Urban Affairs 76th Legislature July 11, 2000 10:00 a.m. Capitol Extension, E2.016 Pursuant to a notice posted on June 21, 2000, the House Committee on Urban Affairs met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Carter, at 10:20 a.m. The roll was answered as follows: Present: Representatives Carter; Ehrhardt; Hodge; Najera (4). Absent: Representatives Bailey; Burnam; Clark; Edwards; Hill (5). Testimony was taken on the Interim Charge: Review the manufactured housing standards, state statutes and other related matters as one means to alleviate affordable housing deficits. (See attached witness list.) Testimony was taken on the Interim Charge: Study the needs of the volunteer fire departments and evaluate their capacity to fulfill their mission of protecting the public. (See attached witness list.) At 12:25 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was recessed until 1:20 p.m., July 11, 2000. The Chair reconvened the meeting at 1:20 p.m. Testimony was taken on the Interim Charge: The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) will report on the data that they are using in order to make decisions affecting affordable housing. TDHCA will report on the steps they are taking in order to determine the adequacy of the data as it relates to scope, timeliness and accuracy of information.
