MINUTES SENATE COMMITTEE ON ADMINISTRATION Monday, October 18, 1999 9:30 am E1.714 ***** Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Monday, October 18, 1999 in E1.714, at Austin, Texas. ***** MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Senator Chris Harris Senator Florence Shapiro Senator Frank Madla Senator John Whitmire Senator Rodney Ellis ***** The Chair called the meeting to order at 11:00 am. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted. The following members arrived after the roll was called: none. The Chair turned the gavel over to Vice-Chair, Senator Madla, who recognized Senator Harris for a motion. Senator Harris moved that the following committee budgets be approved; that use of committee funds for travel be restricted to intrastate travel, except with advance approval of the Administraton Committee; that all line items are transferable; that all budgets are subject to further review by the Administration Committee on a case to case basis as new charges are issued and as the Chair deems necessary; and that future Administration meetings may be conducted telephonically. Administration $137,125 Border Affairs $234,332 Criminal Justice $295,000 with salary exceptions of $5,500 for Brian Jammer and $6,500 forJim Hamilton Economic Development $236,975 Technology and Business $43,700 Education $185,950 with salary exception of $6,000 for Jack Elrod Higher Education $109,154 Finance $313,450 with salary exceptions of $5,700 for Nancy Frank and $5,200 for Eric Wright Health Services $226,630 Human Services $250,000 Intergovernmental Relations $221,741.46 Jurisprudence $208,500 Natural Resources $296,500 with salary exception of $6,000 for Carol McGarah Agriculture $44,350 Nominations $60,193.40 State Affairs $258,279 Infrastructure $62,696.75 Veterans Affairs $162,856 The motion carried by a vote of 3 yeas, 0 nays, with Senators Harris, Madla and Ellis voting yea. There being no further business, at 11:12 am Senator Harris moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
