Senator Harris asked the committee to look at the first draft version of the interim report on Tick-borne illnesses. He personally doesn't feel like it is strong enough but wants each member to take the report; read it and make recommendations. The committee will have a phone conference to discuss changes. The next order of business was to consider and approve the proposed committee budgets for the period 10/1/00 through 1/31/01. Senator Ellis moved to approve the requested Criminal Justice budget of $112,200 along with the salary exemptions for Brian K. Jammer and James E. Hamilton. The motion carried with a record vote of 3 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. The Senate Subcommittee on Technology and Business Growth did not ask for a budget for this period. Senator Madla moved to approve the requested Education budget of $84,900 along with the salary exemption for Jack Elrod. Senator Shapiro sent a letter requsting approval of a new office lease that would combine her Plano and Dallas office into one office. The square footage amount is $23.00.
