         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Economic  
         Development was held on Monday, April 12, 1999 at  Senator  
         Whitmire's Desk, in the Senate Chamber, at Austin, Texas.

         MEMBERS PRESENT:                        MEMBERS ABSENT: 
         Senator John Whitmire, Chairman         None 
         Senator John Carona

         Senator Whitmire, Chairman of the Subcommittee on SB 623,  
         called the meeting to order at 4:05 pm.  The following  
         business was transacted.   
          
         The Chairman laid out SB 623, previously heard in full  
         Committee.  Senator Madla sent up a committee substitute and  
         moved adoption.  Senator Madla moved that SB 623 do not pass  
         but that CSSB 623 be reported back to the Senate Economic  
         Development Committee.  The motion carried with a vote of 3  
         ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. 
          
         There being no further business, at 4:08 pm Senator Whitmire  
         moved that the Committee be adjourned. Without objection, it  
         was so ordered.
